Staglin has established themselves firmly in the minds of California Cab lovers as a top-notch cult producer, but it seems their Salus label has managed to fly a bit under the radar. This "second wine" showcases the softer side of their estate fruit and is made from the newest vine plantings. The "Salus" Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are named after the Roman goddess of health and well being. The family donates 100% of the proceeds from the sale of these wines to mental health research. The 2012 Salus Cabernet was described by the winery as "like the summer of love in a bottle, the 2012 Salus Cabernet Sauvignon is an open and hedonistic wine characterized by generous aromas, flavors and textures."
