Tasting Notes

Tenuta La Fortuna's Fortunello bottling is 100% Sangiovese grown in Tuscany. Vintages are aged for four months in French oak barrels and typically show aromas of raspberries and cherries, with deep chocolaty tones lingering on the finish. This tastes significantly more expensive than it is!

I once worked with a chef who was obsessed with a dish that required only dried oregano. His obsession with this herb forever rooted its essence into my senses. As soon as I smelled this wine, my time with that chef came back to life. A wine that evokes a happy memory like this is a wine worth drinking often. As if this isn't enough to make me a fan, there is also an abundance of ripe red cherry fruit in the nose and on the palate and a subtle hint of dark cocoa. Tannins are light and the acidity very bright, and everything is really just perfectly balanced, juicy and fresh. Superb.

Soft & easy but with that unmistakable Italian kick. Red berries, chocolate and mocha. This would be beyond delicious with pizzas, lasagna Bolognese, sirloin steak, pasta Arabiatta. You got the picture.

This is another wine that earned two stars from me. Made of 100% Sangiovese and aged a few months in oak, the nose is classic ripe cherries and strawberries and a hint of cocoa powder. On the palate of this full-bodied wine, you will find the fruit described above with a touch of minerals and soft tannins, which give this wine a very lush feel to the palate, and an incredibly long finish.
