It's a delicious mix of blackcurrants, cedar, leather and autumnal mulch on the nose, which leads into a tight and concentrated palate of ripe black and red fruits. The tannins are fine and provide enough structure to balance the rich fruit. The raspberry-like acidity is vibrant and punches through, lifting the frame of the wine. Great length. Drinking Window 2017 - 2028. (JB)
Looking very composed, tidy and tightly packed. Raspberry, cassis and blueberry, plus a leafy edge with graphite. The palate's faultless, and tannins are a feature. Really terrific length and depth with lots of potential. Best from 2018 for more than a decade.
This latest offering lives up to its billing as one of the country’s most consistently outstanding reds. Notes of dark fruit, espresso, mocha, clove and cedar lead to a concentrated palate that is filled with succulent fruit flavours and spicy nuances, together with silky texture and rounded tannins. Plump, fleshy and undeniably gratifying, this is elegantly opulent and offers sophistication and refinement. At its best: 2023 to 2038
A classic blend of Cabernet and Shiraz, this is cedary and complex upon opening, easily mixing cassis, plum and blackberry with vanilla and baking spices. On the palate, it's dense and concentrated yet slightly reserved, suggesting rather than screaming its potential. A long, mocha-tinged finish wraps things up, combining dusty tannins with mouthwatering acids. Drink 2020–2030+. *cellar selection* (JC)
The alcohol may be modest, but that's where this line of enquiry ends. It's powerful, it wears a Driza-Bone and RM Williams boots, and isn't prepared to debate this characterisation at all. We could go down to the pub and, suitably fortified, settle things out the back.
Still youthful and closed, the 2013 The Signature Cabernet Shiraz has a deep garnet-purple color with notes of cassis, cedar, a touch of herbs and warm blackberries. The wine has a firm structure, while being grainy with a racy line going through it. It has great length and should age beautifully! (LPB)
Opaque ruby. Expansive cherry and cassis aromas are complemented by suggestions of licorice, mocha and cracked pepper. Chewy and tightly focused on entry and then more broad and fleshy in the midpalate, offering concentrated dark fruit and spicecake flavors and a touch of vanilla. Closes on a sweet blueberry note, showing very strong persistence and just a hint of dusty tannins. (JR)
Aged in Yalumba-coopered oak. Very dark crimson. Lightly minty and spiced but the dominant aroma is peppery dark fruit with an attractive dusty quality. Dark and a little charry on the palate, some cassis but the Cabernet does not overwhelm the Shiraz, surprisingly. Finest of dry tannins are what give this wine its fresh finish. Still very youthful. (17/20 points) (JH)
There's a note of grace to the wild strawberry and cherry flavors, with tobacco, black pepper and red licorice notes, and firm, gripping tannins. Plenty of follow-through on the finish. Drink now through 2028. 400 cases imported. (MW, web only, 2018)
