A bright and fragrant red with blueberries and blackcurrants. Flowers, too. Full body, super-integrated tannins and a fabulous finish. Seamless and refined. Needs three or four years to soften but already a beauty.
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is a big, unctuous wine with huge fruit that nearly buries the tannins. Dark red cherry, plum, mint, licorice, new leather and spices flesh out in a rich, dense wine endowed with exceptional balance. This is an unusually sweet, almost flamboyant wine from Dunn, and yet all the elements are impeccably balanced. (AG)
A blend of fruit from Dunn's estate vineyards on Howell Mountain and grapes from elsewhere in the valley with increasing emphasis on the cooler new AVA of Coombsville the Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is the most open-knit, supple wine in the Dunn stable, bursting with fragrant red and black fruit. (WK)
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet-purple in color. Wow--it has a total rock-star nose of warm cassis, preserved plums, Chinese five spice and potpourri with hints of menthol, dusty earth, Ceylon tea and cigar box. Medium to full-bodied with a firm backbone of grainy tannins and great freshness, the palate gives loads of exotic spice and earth-laced black fruit layers, finishing very long and spicy. (LPB)
