Dark, ripe and spicy, with a core of chocolate and currant, plum and cherry. Has reached a fine drinking plateau, with complex, concentrated flavors that are rich and sharply focused. Finishes with firm tannins, but it still shows lots of life.--1978 California Cabernet Retrospective."

(12.8% alcohol; 100% from Lemmon-Chabot; harvested on October 2 and 3): Medium red with a browning rim. Slightly high-toned aromas of redcurrant, smoke, tobacco and balsamic vinegar. Smooth, sweet and fine-grained, with nicely integrated acidity giving shape to the red berry and tobacco flavors and lifting the finish. A bit tart but full of life. This wine was made from very ripe fruit. (ST)
