This lushly textured wine with its intense structure is a big step above what you would expect at this modest price point. A solid core of dark cocoa, cassis, sweet cherry and spice give way to a powerful finish of very fine and grippy tannins. Here the New World ripeness is tempered by the sheer scale of the wine.

If you were a fan of the Kaiken Malbec we had this summer, you will love the Kaiken Ultra Cabernet. Silky, black fruit combines with soft tannin and just a hint of toasted oak to make the perfect everyday sipper, or alternatively a great party wine. If you are looking for a smooth, dark-fruited Cab at an affordable price, this is your wine!

Fruit forward, great condensed flavors of raspberry and some tobacco leaf on the finish. The crescendo was the slight amount of grip on the back end...which gave the wine more character, texture and length for a wine at this price point. Ultra bargain for sure. Enjoy!

You have to excuse the multiple lame puns here but this is Ultra good Cabernet at an Ultra good price point! This wine has a lot of power and richness but also true varietal structure and grip on the palate. It's not a generic, full bodied red, it's true Cabernet Sauvignon and I love that about it. Smoky dark fruit, cedar, graphite, gravely tones with a nice firm tannin structure to hold all the fruit in place long on the palate. A remarkably well put together wine for a very economical price point.

Serious! Dark fruits and discreet roasted coffee bean aromas are subtle and balanced. Flavors of currants combine with some lightly savory, pungent Cabernet notes in the background, and feature a combination of mid-palate weight/intensity and a mineral driven freshness as well. Moderate tannins on the finish frame the wine quite nicely. This would be serious, structured Cabernet at under $20, but for under $15 it's definitely one of the Cab bargains of the year for me.
