A restrained and cool nose offers up notes of red currant, lilac, spiced tea and earth scents that lead to intense and tautly muscular middle weight flavors that culminate in a focused, moderately austere and solidly persistent finale. This is even firmer so I would suggest buying this only if you have the express intention of cellaring it for at least 5 to 7 years and 10 to 12 would be better still.
The 2014 Beaune 1Er Cru les Theurons has a pastille-like purity on the nose -- blackcurrant and bilberry fruit, a little more introverted than its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannin, dense in the mouth, minerally and grippy with good persistence on the finish. This is an excellent Beaune Premier Cru from Jadot. (NM)
Good bright red. Attractive floral lift to the redcurrant and red cherry fruit aromas. Sweeter than the Grèves and showing good flavor intensity, but also a bit minty and slightly herbal. A step up in length, structure and finishing perfume, displaying finer-grained tannins and good saline energy. (ST)
