The 2014 Côtes de Nuits Villages will spend 16 months in barrel (perhaps longer than I would expect). It has a crisp, slightly pinched blackberry and briary-scented bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied, smooth and supple with sappy red berry fruit, a little spiciness creeping in towards the compact, nicely structured finish. (NM)
Mid crimson. Dark-red fruit, finely fragrant and just a hint of peppery spice. Deeply fruited and lightly spiced on the palate. Elegant, juicy and fine-boned if not particularly sustained on the finish. (JH)
