Tatomer's flagship 2014 Riesling Kick-On Ranch is rich, voluptuous and delicious. A bit of skin contact give the wine the structure to hold the intense fruit and body of the wine that are the result of picking a little bit later than normal. Chamomile, orange peel and apricot pit are all front and center, but it is the wine's overall feel that is its most distinguishing attribute. Because of a lack of space in the winery, Tatomer was forced to wait two weeks later than originally planned to bring in this fruit. The wine certainly did not suffer, that much is clear. There are plenty of highlights in this range from Graham Tatomer. The whites, the wines Tatomer started out with, are the most exciting wines this year. As a group, the 2014 Pinots are a bit on the light side, as is common in this vintage. Tatomer fans can look forward to two new Rieslings in the 2016 vintage, although Tatomer is no longer working with Sisquoc fruit following the 2014 harvest. (AG)
