The 2014 Pinot Noir Aidan Wildrose Vineyard is the biggest and most dramatic of the Sonoma Coast Pinots. Broad, ample and creamy, the 2014 boasts superb depth and overall intensity. The sheer richness of the fruit pretty much buries the 40% whole clusters. This is an exceptionally polished and beautiful Pinot from DuMol and Andy Smith. (AG)
Pale to medium ruby-purple colored, the 2014 Pinot Noir Aidan was made with 40% whole cluster, which contributes an savory/earthy/herbal character over notes of red currants and black raspberries plus a hint of tar. Medium-bodied with a very lively acid backbone and solid frame of chewy tannins, it delivers plenty of juicy fruit and good persistence. (LPB)
*Two Stars* Sweet oak is a slightly pushier presence here, yet it never gets in the way of this wine's confident expression of very pure Pinot fruit and instead contributes attractive accents of root beer and vanilla in the nose and again on the palate. It is a concentrated, slightly bolder member of the handsome DuMOL family, but, for all of its unabashed richness and considerable depth, it is a well-structured wine nonetheless and one that never threatens to be too much of a good thing. We plan on waiting for at least three or four years and recommend that you do the same as well.
