Tasted blind at Flint Wines’ 2007/2012 Nuits Saint-Georges tasting in London. The 2012 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Murgers was one of the standouts of this blind horizontal tasting. It has a crisp and well-defined bouquet with brambly red berry fruit, a touch of undergrowth and pressed rose petals. This is one of the most elegant wines of the lineup. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannin, crisp acidity, just a dash of black pepper and a cohesive, very focused and appetizing finish. It just 'reeks' of class and it comes strongly recommended. (NM)
*Oustanding* This is beautifully complex with its expressive nose of freshly turned earth, anise, clove, sandalwood and ripe dark berry fruit scents. There is excellent volume to the attractively rich and mouth coating medium-bodied flavors that possess very good power and focus on the equally complex and strikingly persistent finish. Lovely though note well that plenty of patience will be required. Drink: 2024+
Medium red. Expressive aromas of redcurrant, dried flowers, iron and tobacco. A bit lower-pitched in the mouth than the Vosne examples, but offers enticing sweetness and subtle earth and saline mineral notes. Finishes with a fine dusting of tannins and very good building length. (ST)
