This ripe wine with its red fruits and well-balanced texture is beautifully ready to drink, with just the right crisp acidity to balance the soft richness. There is no sign yet of maturity, the fruit from this great vintage showing at its perfumed best. (RV)
Some dried rose-like flowers as well as an array of red and darker cherry fruit aromas and flavors. Quiet, fleshy and bold, the structure and acidity of the vintage carries it perfectly. Pastry-like finish.
Pol Roger's 2008 Rosé Vintage is an impressively full-bodied, round and fruity as well as structured Champagne. Dressed in a beautiful salmon color, the 2008 opens beautifully clear, deep and fresh on the aromatic and spicy perfumed nose where red berry (raspberries!) and aromatic herbs are displayed. Full, intense and rich on the palate, this is an expansive, perfectly round, vinous and already accessible Champagne with power, structure and finesse. The finish is just excellent—fresh, with well-integrated acidity and a functional but not prominent mineral backbone. (SR)
The 2008 Rosé is absolutely gorgeous. Precise, sculpted and lifted throughout, the 2008 offers striking brightness in its red berry and rose petal flavors. The wine gains energy, intensity and focus with time in the glass, yet the overall impression is one of finesse. Readers should expect a taut, chiseled style. Then again, that is 2008. (AG)
Flavors of strawberries and cream, singed orange peel and macaroon are layered on the finely meshed frame of this rich rosé Champagne, kept lithe and focused by bright acidity. Long and minerally on the elegant finish. Drink now through 2028. (AN)
Mild reduction doesn’t completely mask the otherwise pretty nose that combines notes of strawberry, cherry, lemon rind and yeast nuances. There is excellent punch to the utterly delicious flavors that are supported by a very lively mousse, indeed this could accurately be described as foamy, all wrapped in a nicely dry and complex finish. This is a lovely rosé in that it’s not excessively fruit nor is it sweet and while this could certainly be enjoyed now it could also be aged to good effect depending on your preferences.
Give this time for the sulfur to blow off and you’ll find a gingery Champagne with elegant strawberry-scented fruit. It’s blended with finesse, a pour for dark-meat turkey.
Tasted blind. Pale lipstick pink and some nice autolysis on the nose. Hint of ginger beer but real interest here. Bone dry but not austere. Should age well.
