Wow this stuff is good. We're so lucky to be bringing these Encantadas in and the brand is just on fire. This wonderful estate only produced a tiny amount of brandy nearly 40 years ago. This is the most classic of ultra aged Armagnac. The nose is all dried apricots, prunes, five spice heavy on the cinnamon a subtle smoky woodsy note. The palate is unctuous but not syrupy. The exotic woods take over with a building spice. There's a huge contrast to the sweetness of the nose as the pepper and spice builds on the finish. Dark, dry, long with a gravelly note that picks up at the end. It's not a sweet one for sure. A truly tremendous example of what happens to Armagnac unattended to after 4 decades.
