Tasting Notes

Bryan Davis from the nation's most controversial distillery Lost Spirits is back again with more in-your-face peated malt whisky. The difference between the two new Abomination releases and previous editions, however, is that these consist of peated Scottish new-make rather than his self-distilled Salinas spirits. Bryan was able to acquire a healthy amount of smoky Islay malt whisky, which he ran through his patented rapid-aging reactor with amazing results. The only distinction between the two expressions is the type of wood used in the reactor. The Crying of the Puma uses toasted oak, whereas The Sayers of the Law uses charred oak. Both whiskies bring huge smoke, lots of woody notes, and carry Davis's calling card of concentrated oak flavor with unabashed power. Think of Kilchoman on steroids with tons of chewiness. Fans of the previous Lost Spirits editions will be pleased.

Smells like someone just slapped some BBQ sauce on a charred piece of meat and shut the BBQ lid. So good. Pot pourri, freshly extinguished candle, toasted almonds, and good strength to keep the finish long and complex. For the fans of bigger, but not necessarily "juicier" spirits.
