Preston calls their Dry Creek Valley operation a "farm and winery," indicating that although the grapes are certified grown organically and Biodynamically, they go further: chickens and sheep are raised on the property, vegetables, apples and olives, and all the produce sold at the winery's farm stand, farmers markets, and in local restaurants. Sauvignon Blanc is an exception to their focus on heritage California, Italian and Rhone varietal wines, but it produces exceptionally well in the soil along Dry Creek (just upstream from Quivira's fine Fig Tree Sauvignon Blanc). The winery's note on the 2015 Sauvignon Blanc: "This vintage shows aromas of grapefruit, kiwi, lemon and hints of bread dough rising in the mixer (we make our own bread in our wood burning oven here at Preston)."
