This wine is sourced from multiple sites across the appellation, including Rochioli, Mill Station and Laughlin Road, all of the vineyards relatively cool. Light and mineral-driven, the wine presents as crisp and subtle in oak, allowing for exotic fruit and floral elements to show and a richness to develop slowly toward the finish. (VB)
Ramey 2014 Chardonnay Russian River has an understated nose of ripe apples and apricots with a creamy/yeasty undercurrent. The medium-bodied palate provides nice richness, with plenty of pure stone fruit and citrusy flavors supported by refreshing acidity, finishing long and creamy. (LPB)
The 2014 Chardonnay (Russian River Valley) is rich, creamy and supple, with lovely textural richness and depth, especially at its level. Peach, apricot, dried flowers, vanillin and a touch of French oak give the wine its racy, supple personality. This is a gorgeous appellation level wine from David Ramey. (AG)
Aged for 12 months in French oak (13% new). Quite different from most California Chardonnays; very clearly inspired by Burgundy and with similar aspirations for longevity. Broad and complex with a dry, savoury finish. Vibrant and still youthful. Very long and throbbing with vitality on the finish -- quite an achievement somewhere as warm as most of Russian River. 17+/20 points.
