He was involved in starting the Super Tuscan movement, developing coastal Tuscany and now he has turned his focus to Puglia. Antinori however sees the potential for quality at an exceptional price and with their incredible base of knowledge and skilled winemakers they have crafted some unique and delicious wines. The Tormaresca "Neprica" is made from Negroamaro, Primitivo, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Negroamaro and Primitivo by themselves sometimes lack balance or their flavors are too forceful yet with the addition of the Cabernet Sauvignon to the mix, well … Wow! Rich, complex, with loads of fruit yet balanced with a veil of structure that makes it eminently drinkable

I find most intriguing when french grapes grown in Italy acquire that "Non so che cosa"that makes it uniquely Italian. The Neprica has just that with its Cabernet Sauvignon. Very nice and approachable wine that is ready to go on any party, dinner, picnic and anywhere else you might want to take it along.

This slightly untraditional blend of negroamaro, primitivo and cabernet sauvignon will make you wonder why more Southern Italian winemakers are not convinced of cabernet's place among more native varietals. This value-packed red offers layers of raspberry, plum and black cherry fruits on the nose and palate, with light, spicy notes of licorice and a long finish for such an inexpensive wine.
