Tasting Notes

Fürst makes this easy-going white to be delightful as a picinic wine or aperitif. It is made in a feinherb style which means it's a whisker off-dry, but to be honest doesn't show any notable sweetness at all. Elbling is a historic vinifera grape varietal that was cultivated primarily in the Mosel Valley since Roman times and eventually spread to dominate the extensive plantings of medieval Germany. Very few producers are left making wines from this varietal but Fürst take theirs very seriously and this is a fantastic bottle of wine. Ultimately quaffable, refreshing and naturally low alcohol at 10.5%...good job it comes in 1L bottle...you're gonna need those extra 250mls! (Ryan Woodhouse - K&L German Wine Buyer)

This tasty bottle of white wine was racy enough to make my left eye jump... And I taste Champagne before they bottle it every year! If you are looking to put a refreshing, different white into your rotation, the one liter Elbling from Weingut Furst is a great option. This will hold up in the door of the refrigerator for a week without a problem- the acidity is fresh as can be! It also has quite nice body and texture given the bracing, high toned finish.
    Top Value!

Awesome nose-ful of apple, melon, and a hint of honey that just gets even better on the palate. A bit richer than most "liter" wines, which makes it appropriate for any occasion. You'll be glad for the extra 250ml!

If you like Muscadet you will love this wine. Elbling was Germany's most planted grape until the early 20th century. Today it is planted mostly in the Mosel region and is often used to produce sparkling wines. Light in body, low in alcohol, high in satisfaction AND value (Litre bottle!) there is plenty of acidity, citrus flavors and a salty quality that makes it fantastic with oysters and fresh salads. This will no doubt become my new summer glou glou/quaffer/porch pounder.

That's one of those wines that we come across from time to time, with no great expectations, and completely surprise us. It 's the epitome of a summer wine, in the sense that's light, incredibly refreshing, and even have a slight spritzy sensation. The aromatics reminded me of a Gruner, on the palate its salinity and crispness took my breath away! A platter of raw oysters, some Mignonette sauce, a glass of Furst Elbling, and you are in Paradise!
