The 2016 Chateau de Pitray is 100% Cabernet Franc and expresses the variety well with lovely earthy black fruit and a touch of bell pepper. The palate is medium-bodied and apart from the structure, quite Loire-like with that bell pepper note towards the finish. It just finishes a little short, but otherwise, this is a delicious, personality-driven Cabernet Franc. (NM)

Chateau de Pitray has a 600-year history under the close watch of the same family. Currently in the care of the Count and Countess de Boigne, the estate and its wines have gained greater exposure of late due to the efforts of Jean de Boigne, the son of the Count and Countess.
