A jaunt down to my local Farmer’s Market this morning brought me face to face, or rather, nose to rind, with a table spread with farmstead fresh, organic goat cheeses. To die for! And if there is a heaven, there must be goats with wings as well, to supply the blesséd with plenty of soft-ripened delights. And a loaf of sun-warmed walnut bread and crisp white wine…heaven help us if we should go hungry or thirsty during gospel choir practice, right? This pure Sancerre from Aurore Dezat certainly stroked my harpstrings, with tangy lemon, nectarine and subtle grapefruit flavors on a spine of chalky minerality. I thought I was on Cloud Wine…..

A crisp Sancerre for those that like a little more mineral in their Sauvignon Blancs. This has a great lime/lemon zest type of citrus on the nose with a hint of fresh grass and TONS of limestone minerality. It's clean, light and refreshing, perfect for these last days of summer. Or buy a few and keep in your wine fridge for Dungeness Crab season. This would be outstanding with seafood, especially shellfish!

I had the opportunity to taste this wine with my fellow K&Lers and at first open, most commented on the aromatics almost immediately. On the palate, the fruit and acidity are well-balanced with have a backbone of a citrus-like note. In addition to the minerality and nice crisp finish, this is the perfect match for anyone looking for a crisp and light white wine.

This Sancerre checks all the boxes; lean, aromatic, punchy, awesome. Coming from the family domaine of Aurore Dezat in the small commune of Sury-en-Vaux, this classic expression of Sauvignon Blanc started out on limestone soils peppered with pebbles and flint. These characteristics are prominent in the wine and are balanced with a refreshing acidity crisp mouth feel making this one hard to put down. Do NOT miss out on this Direct Import deal under $20!

Our newest producer from Sancerre, Aurore Dezat took over the family vineyards and makes one of the most mineral-driven and aromatically perfumed of all our Sauvignon Blancs from the region. Her vines are on the classic calcareous clay soil with caillottes gravel. Focused and pure with flavors of grapefruit peel, chalky mineral and white flowers. Tremendous!

This is a very light and refreshing style of Sancerre from Aurore Dezat, made from 25-30 year old vines grown in terre blanche soil. The terroir imparts a classic limestone minerality, vibrant acidity and very noticeable green apple note that for me, sets this Sancerre apart from the crowd. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a crisp, light style of Sancerre with subtle complexity and finesse.
