The aromas of strawberries and orange peel are so enticing here. Cherry, too. Full-bodied, tannic and powerful with chewy tannins that shows an oyster-shell and crush-stone character. Organically farmed. Need three or four years to soften. Try in 2021.
From the largest and most famous of the Beaune Premier Crus, this wine is classically soft and generous. Of course it has tannins although these are already beautifully cushioned by the ripe red-cherry and blackberry fruits. With spice and smokiness from the wood aging, this is a complete, delicious wine. Drink from 2022. (RV)
The 2015 Corton Grèves Grand Cru was demonstrating some reduction on the nose, though underneath lie some decent black fruit that should offer good vigor once in bottle. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet supple tannin, well-judged acidity, harmonious in the mouth with a gentle but insistent grip on the silky smooth finish. Once the aromatics gain their cohesion and clarity, which they will, this will be a very fine Corton Grèves. These tasting notes belong under the umbrella of "Louis Jadot", though it should be pointed out that these bottlings are under "Domaine Louis Jadot", that is to say that the company owns the vines rather than through contracts with growers. Discreet wood and menthol nuances still easily allow the overtly sauvage and earth-inflected aromas of red and dark currant to be appreciated. The concentrated yet relatively supple medium weight flavors possess a velvety mouth feel before culminating in a lingering if slightly warm finale where a hint of bitter cherry arises. This is not super complex but more depth will undoubtedly develop over time. (90-93)/2027+
Bright medium red. Burnished oak scents add another dimension to aromas and flavors of redcurrant, raspberry, dried flowers and soil. Lovely savory, silky wine with serious breadth and richness. At once saline and sweet, this plush wine finishes with excellent length and no hard edges.
