K&L Notes

This is 100% Chardonnay, made without malolactic fermentation to preserve its freshness and tingling acidity. On the nose, it's open and expressive with scents of preserved fruit and hints of almond. On the palate, citrus and preserved apricots are evident, along with the barest presence of roses. Silky and delicious!

What a fascinating new addition to our Louise Brison lineup! While their other cuvees lean to the fruity side thanks to 50% Pinot Noir, this sharp beauty is 100% Chardonnay coupled with the cooler 2008 vintage, resulting in a racier option with long term aging potential. This is crisp, while still singing with rounded citrus and bitter almond notes and a clean finish. This release is elegant and lean, but with an accessibility that will only increase as it’s cellared. The fact that the team from Louise Brison charmed us all at our Champagne event is only a bonus reason to support this Direct Import.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, 2008 vintage champagnes are my favorite! Favorite to drink, favorite to age. The Cuvee Tendresse from Louise Brison is great for both. 100% Chardonnay is crisp with notes of tart meyer lemon from the cool vintage while the oak aging and fermentation give a graceful texture on the mid palate. Nuanced fruit dance on the palate with notes of ripe apples and apple skins. Delicate baking spice slide gently onto the finish that is tart and refreshing.

This Champagne was the most intriguing and fascinating for me recently. Its flavors are so complex that it's nearly impossible to pin it all down. That's what usually gets me and makes me want to have it again: unique flavor profile that always keeps you on your toes because it constantly changes and opens up with new nuances at each swirl of the glass and each sip. What got me here is amazingly balanced combination of minerality, deep texture, purity of Chardonnay grapes and brisk acidity. It's fresh but also has some richness from barrel maturations. It never gets heavy or toasty, it's just playing on the edge of it but keeps it precise. Perfect balance.

An extra 2 years of aging on the lees really shows in this fantastic vintage champagne! A little toasty with fantastic notes of green apple, this is a delightful celebratory Cuvee that won't break the bank. Enjoy this wine this holiday season and for years to come!

This is SPECTACULAR wine! Most of the time I am a fan of light, bright, zippy, and fresh, when it comes to sparkling. However, I also like some of the more intensely flavored, higher textured, richer profiled, champagnes too. This is more of the latter style and at this price, you don't want to miss it!

The 2008 Vintage is providing us with absolutely fantastic Champagnes in terms of quality and value. The Tendresse from Louise Brison is a 100% Chardonnay offering and one of the best of the lot. Rich and forward showing great peach stone fruits, almond cream and citrus notes - but with a great reserve of refreshing acidity keeping the fruit flavors bright

Tasting this fantastic 08 vintage, 100% Chardonnay based, DI champagne, I was reminded of their regular vintage 2008 bottling, which for many of us served as our introduction to this house. Here we have all of the richness coupled with bright flavors of their vintage 2008, but on the palate the golden fruits seem even more intense, lively and impressive. And it does not come at the expense of drinkability! I would not hesitate to think of this wine as an affordable luxury for drinking now, though you could just as easily categorize it as a way to load up on the good stuff (on the cheap) for incredible drinking in the mid to long term.

The other night, our Champagne buyer opened up this wine alongside the 2010 Louis Brison Brut Champagne and I was completely blown away by the quality of the two. The 2008 harvest in Champagne saw warm, dry days that allowed ripening while cool nights preserved acidity, which certainly shows . Zippy acidity and refreshing citrus dominate in this wine and it maintains great balance. I'd love to see how it evolves in the years to come!

An incredible deal for what is likely one of the highest end Champagnes on the shelf. The 100% Chardonnay and lack of malolactic fermentation are evident here, with crisp acidity and citrus really dominating. Brighter and more vivacious than the 2010 Louis Brison (which is softer and lovely in its own right), this 2008 is going to have a long and beautiful life. I was fortunate enough to taste the 1998 Brison last night and now I can for sure attest to its ability to last decades. This wine is made even more special because of the meticulous, pain-staking efforts put in by an incredible winemaking team. This is a long-run family business that cares about nothing more than quality and integrity.
