Colomé is Donald Hess' groundbreaking Argentinian winery in the rugged, high elevation Salta region. Amalaya is a label from this winery that presents blends based on Torrontes (for the white) and Malbec for the red. Always our favorite Torrontes, it is exciting to see what this winery is able to achieve with a bit of Riesling blended in. This wine is bright, delicious, and impeccably made from organically cultivated grapes grown around 5,500 feet above sea level. *Please note that this is the same as the "blanco de corte" bottling reviewed. It simply goes by that name in the UK market where the review was originally published.

Back again, Amalaya's blend of Torrontes and Riesling displays beautiful bright yellow fruit, hints of jasmine as well as a chalky sense of minerality from the 5,500+ feet Salta vineyards. We are huge fans of this wine; for under $10 there is loads of refreshment and sufficient nuanced detail to hold your attention.
