Big and juicy, this wine draws on a few sources as well as 15% Petite Sirah to offer a complex and layered expression of black cherry, cardamom and chocolate. Rich from start to finish, it satisfies as it calls out for smoky meat. (VB)

As for the 2015 Zinfandel Dry Creek, this exhibits more of the earthy, broader-shouldered side of Zinfandel than the less expensive Sonoma bottling. Coming from some top-notch sites, this Zinfandel (15.8% alcohol) has a dark ruby color and loads of briary berry fruit intermixed with licorice, roasted herbs and loamy soil scents. It is medium to full-bodied, lush, and best drunk over its first 4-5 years of life. (RP)

One of the highlights in this range, the 2015 Zinfandel (Dry Creek Valley) is also a terrific introduction to the vintage at Carlisle. Pliant, rich and expressive, with tons of Dry Creek savory and mineral notes, the 2015 is wonderfully complete. Dried herbs, tobacco, licorice and dried flowers add striking nuance to this tasty, appellation-level Zinfandel from Carlisle. (AG)
