Pale yellow. Subdued aromas of yellow peach, gunflint and olive tapenade. Salty, very dry and nicely concentrated but youthfully backward, showing noteworthy tension in the mouth. Finishes with good building minerality and saline persistence.(ST)
The 2014 Montmains was still in tank and had not yet been bottled on the 19th of November and was showing very nicely indeed. The wine offers up a very refined nose of grapefruit, lemon, spring flowers, limestone minerality and a topnote of lemon zest. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, bright and very precise, with a fine core of fruit, lovely cut and grip and a very long, minerally and precise finish. Lovely juice that will want a couple of years in the cellar to really start to hit on all cylinders. (Drink between 2017-2035)
Here too there is good Chablis typicity on the citrus, floral and mineral reduction inflected green fruit nose. There is good richness to the sappy middle weight flavors that possess solid amounts of dry extract that also serves to buffer the moderately firm acid spine on the dry, clean and persistent finale. This youthfully austere effort is really quite good and should amply reward mid-term cellaring. Drink: 2020+ *Outstanding*
A racy and distinguished act with a ripe citrus and stone fruit nose and precise chalky / oyster shell palate. Very pleasant and well thought out with a fresh, salty finish.
