From the Northridge and Clifton Hills Vineyard (both on the Wahluke Slope) brought up in 30% new puncheons, the 2015 Syrah Milbrandt offers a complex, nuanced style in its lavender, green olive, blackcurrants, and smoked herbs aromas and flavors. It's medium to full-bodied, has plenty of tannins, and will benefit from short-term cellaring.
Rich and dramatic, the 2015 Syrah Milbrandt Vineyard bursts with lavish aromas of ripe black cherries, licorice, dark chocolate and sweet herbs. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and ripe, with a broad, textural attack underpinned by fine-grained, somewhat chewy tannins that I suspect will always lend it a somewhat rustic profile this vintage. Generous and flavorful, with an ample endowment of fruit, follow it for the better part of a decade. (WK)
Bright medium ruby. Musky black cherry and licorice aromas are lifted by a rocky mineral element. In a penetrating, cooler, savory style, with its dark fruit flavors complicated by a note of Espelette pepper. Not a particularly sweet style of Syrah but wonderfully aromatic and primary, with a strong tannic spine that will require time to soften. This serious, very long wine of terroir leaves behind a violet quality. (ST) 92+
