K&L Notes

Winemaker's Notes: "Sourced from cool, high elevation vineyards in the Adelaide Hills. Meticulous viticulture, with cane pruning, vertical shoot positioning, and yields limited through shoot and bunch thinning to increase fruit intensity. 100% hand picked. Fermented cool (10-12°C) in stainless steel followed by a short maturation on lees. Prompt bottling to retain freshness. There was record rainfall throughout the growing season but importantly it reduced to average in November during flowering and was dry during March, the later part of ripening. Record low temperatures were also recorded resulting in a late, very cool vintage. Flavours are intense and the natural acidity is striking."

This reminds me of a cross between New Zealand and Sancerre but without the muskiness of NZ or the austerity of Sancerre. Snappy, clean and pure tropical flavors are shaded by citrus and lime on the acid tingling finish of this mouth watering and refreshing wine.

Grown in a high elevation vineyard in the Adelaide Hills, this Savvy definitely highlights the cooler climate with bright acidity and zippy citrus fruits. This is not your typical Sauvignon Blanc from Australia and not one you will find by many other producers in Oz. This is more akin the Sancerre than to other whites in the same area. It’s expressive, vivid, and juicy. A great choice if you’re looking for something different or are new to Adelaide Hills.
