Healthy red-ruby. Excellent floral lift to the aromas of black raspberry, blueberry and mint. Then wonderfully suave and seamless but with terrific energy and juiciness to its crushed dark fruit and cocoa powder flavors. The tannins are very refined, but the wine's very long finish is still youthfully clenched. This wine boasts plenty of structure for graceful evolution in bottle.(ST)
An exuberantly spicy, complex, pure and strikingly elegant nose is composed of black fruit, violet and plums aromas that are trimmed in just a hint of sandalwood. The equally complex, naturally sweet and rich mouth coating flavors exude so much minerality that they are like rolling small pebbles around in the mouth while displaying a seductively textured, refined and beautifully balanced finish that offers sneaky good length. This is class and grace personified though again note well that this is going to need plenty of time before it reaches its full apogee.
As Monsieur Millet noted, the domaine is the third largest holder of vines in Amoureuses, with fifty-five ares, which only follows the fifty-nine ares of Domaine Joseph Drouhin and the full hectare owned by Domaine Robert Groffier. The 2015 Comte de Vogüé version is going to be an excellent wine, as it jumps from the glass in a really pure and primary blend of red and black cherries, violets, raw cocoa, spices, a complex base of soil and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and seamless, with a superb core of sappy fruit, excellent focus and grip, fine-grained tannins and simply superb mineral drive on the long and complex finish. The combination of sappy, pure fruit and great soil complexity is rare and very exciting for the future of this fine bottle. 2025-2075. 94
The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru les Amoureuses has a very pure and seductive bouquet with both blood orange and orange rind infusing the black fruit, beautifully focused and with perhaps a greater degree of transparency than many recent vintages. You can feel the terroir here. The palate is underpinned by fine tannin and superb tension. There is a surfeit of energy here, avoiding any heaviness with effortless ease, those Asian spices and a pinch of white pepper enlivening the focused and sophisticated finish. This will equal the two grand crus in the long-term.(NM)
