Teutonic Wine Company is an Oregon winery devoted to the grapes of the Mosel Valley in Germany. That means they make a fair amount of Riesling, but they also branch out into other traditional grapes - including this Silvaner. Rare even in its homeland, this wine is truly unique in Oregon. Sourced from a tiny 40-year old plot in the Willamette Valley, this Silvaner shows some resemblance to Riesling with its ripe peach and white floral notes. Where this grape differs is in its intense minerality and linear profile. This is a focused wine that has the acid to age for a while, but if you want some for the future, stock up - less than 100 cases of the 2015 were made.
