A ripe but fresh nose combines both red currant and floral-suffused aromas with those of lavender, earth and a hint of oak. There is good intensity and freshness to the relatively robust middle weight flavors that possess fine delineation before culminating in a youthfully austere, dusty and mouth coating finale where a hint of warmth appears. A quality villages and worth a look. 2022+
The 2015 Morey-Saint-Denis Village, matured in around 35% new oak, has a clean, fresh, quite minerally bouquet with cool wet limestone scents percolating through the black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, vivid and crunchy blackberry and bilberry fruit, with a structured and brisk, verging on brittle-textured finish.(NM)
Bright medium red. Pure, ripe aromas of raspberry and brown spices. Delivers sappy sweetness and lovely spicy lift to its red berry flavors. This intense, nicely delineated village wine really echoes on the firm, persistent finish.(ST)
The 2015 domaine bottling of Morey AC also strikes me as a step up from the négociant version, as this is more pure and more focused than the former example. The bouquet is not quite as generous as the Chambolle above, but equally refined in its expression of plums, black cherries, dark soil, venison, woodsmoke, fresh herbs and bitter chocolate. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely structured, with a fine core, ripe, moderate tannins and a long, well-balanced finish. This too is a classy villages. 2020-2045.
