Opaque purple, it offers up beautiful notes of chocolate, espresso, blackberry and cassis. The wine hits the palate with a gush of deliciously pure, unctuously textured fruit and offers up full body, a multi-layered mouthfeel, and a long, long finish, nearly disguising some serious structure and tannin. This is a gorgeous, classic Diamond Mountain wine to drink over the next 25-30+ years. (RP) 97+
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Mountain (94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Merlot) is sensational, and while not the biggest or richest wine in the line, offers gorgeous purity and a huge hit of sweet, opulent fruit. Currants, roasted herbs, chocolate, cedar and loamy earth notes all flow to a full-bodied, ripe, polished beauty that shows the forward, finesse-driven style of the vintage. Drink it anytime over the coming 20 years.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon (Diamond Mountain) presents an attractive interplay of mountain structure, Hall richness and the savory, mineral-driven tension that is such a signature of these sites. Sweet tobacco, earthiness, licorice, leather and black cherry are laced into the mid-weight finish. (AG)
Pure and fleshy, even a touch soft, but full of flavor, with easy-to-enjoy notes of plum, blackberry and anise. Ends long and clean, with a little more traction and backbone. Drink now through 2030. (JL)
