Daniela Gillmore and her winemaker husband, Andrés Sanchez, dry farm this syrah and merlot in their vineyards adjacent to their winery in Loncomilla. This is vibrant in its red fruit flavor, rich in strawberry and herbal notes, electric in its acidity, a red with enough grip and density to enjoy side by side with the most decadent of hamburgers. Don’t forget the bacon.
he 2013 Mariposa is a red blend of Syrah and Merlot in equal parts. The grapes come from old vines on granite soils in San Javier in the Maule. It fermented in stainless steel and matured in used barrels for 12 months. It's very aromatic, surprisingly perfumed and with a notable absence of herbal aromas. Again, the place is stronger than the variety. The palate is soft and approachable with clean and tasty flavors, with very good freshness. Dry-farmed and from a cool vintage in a warm place. Really tasty.
