How fortunate to have this wine at the low price of $19.99 as it truly is outstanding. A wonderfully structured Syrah of finesse with all the savory notes of tobacco, dark chocolate, leather, fresh plums with some black pepper that make the mouth water wanting more. Bob Lindquist, the founder of Qupé and one of the first "Rhone Rangers" is truly a composer of great Syrah and you'll understand when you pour your glass and hear it singing.

Wow! This is one of the most serious wines I've ever selected in the sub-$20 price point. That's because it typically sells for $50+! Qupe has long been a staff favorite here at K&L...especially those releases coming from the Biodynamically farmed Sawyer-Lindquist estate property. Sonnie's Syrah represents the very best blocks and barrels of any given vintage - simply put - the best Syrah they can make. I'm super excited we can offer this simply stunning wine at more than 60% off its typical retail at the winery! Sadly some much chronicled events involving the parent company has forced the hand of the winery to sell some gems like this to us for a fraction of their worth. The wine is in perfect condition, just entering its prime drinking window after 5 years in bottle. A classically brooding, gamey, smokey Syrah, with violet tones, dark fruit, dried herbs, peppered steak, earthy elements underpinning the deep, succulent fruit. Drink anytime between now and 2028.

This time of year is my favorite time of year to indulge on a lot of Syrah, and Qupe's Sonnie S Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard syrah is sure to be a repeat offender on my list... Especially at the 20 dollar price point. You really can't go wrong with this one. Six years of age, rich notes of black currant, white pepper, and brilliant acid. This syrah is asking for more and more each sip and before you know it, it's already gone. I think we found the California Syrah steal of the century.

This, folks, is a steal. The Qupe wines are some of the oldest and most reliable in Santa Barbara County, and Bob Lindquist knows this area like the back of his hand. The wines are made with quality and structure, and a bottle like this with a few years of age is just beginning to hit its stride. Look for silky tannin, dark berry and bramble fruit, licorice, cured meat and a very long, lingering finish.

This is a killer deal for Central Coast Syrah from a very cool climate. In the glass, mushroom and herbal notes shine through with underlying plum and blackberry. On the palate you get that classic Syrah black pepper with gamy savoriness, violet and earth. If rustic, earthy Syrahs are your thing, pick some of this up!

The 2012 “Sonnie’s” is a spicy, high toned, medium bodied wine that glides across the palate with a savory, lingering finish. It is not overdone or heavily oaked. Hints of blueberries, white pepper and grilled meats highlight this delicious Syrah. The Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard in Edna Valley was planted in 2005 and received biodynamic certification from the Demeter Association in 2009.
