A mild touch of reduction pushes the fruit to the background for the present. By contrast there is an excellent sense of verve to the muscular and mineral-driven flavors that possess fine delineation on the dusty, firm and balanced finale where the supporting tannins make it clear that this is very much built-to-age; that said this is not at all rustic or austere.
Dense, reticent cherry and damson nose. Rich, broad, and tannic, with ample grip on the palate and a chewiness that at present fights the acidity. Quite austere and clearly needs time. Drinking Window 2018 - 2030.(SB)
The 2015 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru "Cuvée des Alouettes" has dark cherry and mulberry fruit on the nose, touches of espresso in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, masculine and grippy in the mouth, just missing a little weight and substance towards the finish. Again, I would just like to see this flesh out towards the finish.
