Round and fruity, boasting apple, melon and lemon flavors, this white is fluid and accessible. Light spice and butter notes enliven the lingering aftertaste. Best from 2018 through 2027.
Here too there is a distinct petrol element adding breadth to the citrus and white peach scents that are nuanced by the addition of floral hints. There is good punch to the very rich, round and delicious middle weight flavors that possess fine volume and complexity on the refreshing, balanced and linear finale. Some patience will be required to allow this beauty to further flesh out.
The 2014 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Clos Saint Jean has a very perfumed bouquet with touches of peach and Clementine, all nicely defined and generous. The palate is detailed on the entry with touches of hazelnut and orange zest, well balanced with a slight creaminess in texture towards the finish. This is a satisfying Chassagne-Montrachet in the making.(NM)
