Here the equally ripe nose is quite similar except the earth component is more pronounced. The velvety, seductive and once again super-rich flavors possess good minerality on the powerful and mouth coating finish where notes of mocha and warmth can be found. This is quite firm and will definitely need a few years to resolve at least some of the structure.
Red-ruby color is less deep than that of the Bourgogne. Subtle scents of redcurrant, iron, crushed rock and tobacco. Supple and quite dry, with a lively mineral component keeping the fruit and smoke flavors under wraps in the early going. Much more about soil and structure than primary fruit, and the serious tannins will require at least a couple years of patience upon release. (ST)
