Supple, fruity Pinot Noir with distinct violet, red rose, dark cherry, spice, anise and thyme characters. A silken-textured wine with a long and seamless finish. Very approachable now but promises to develop well with bottle age.
Ruby-red colour, a little lighter on edge with slight garnet hues. The aromatics are softly full and quite ethereal, with an array of dark red cherry and berry fruits with fragrant florals. On plate elegant and vibrant with tightly bound and intense flavours of black-red berries and dark cherries, the palate is quite refined with velvety textures and ripe acidity, unveiling mineral elements. This is a beautiful and refined rendition of ‘Calvert’.
Fleshy cherry and blackberry notes have an appealing velvety texture, with pops of black pepper, dried lavender and sage, lingering on the finish. Drink now through 2028. 2,164 cases made. (MW)
This has less charm and more punch than the Cornish Point. Plenty of earthy dark-fruited strength, some bold, darker plum-cherry flavors and quite expansive build into the finish. A full-flavored and assertive Pinot Noir.
Made with 25% whole clusters, the 2016 Calvert Pinot Noir is floral and herbal up front, with distinct rose petal and thyme aromas. Red berries take charge on the palate, although there's a resinous herbal note from start to finish. This medium-bodied wine is supple enough to be approachable now, but it has the concentration to age through 2025. (JC)
