The 2015 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Blanchards comes from more clayey soils in a slight dip in the landscape. It comes from 40-year-old vines. It has a lively bouquet with cranberry leaf, wild strawberry and light spicy notes that open nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip in the mouth, plenty of sappy black fruit with a firm grip on the finish that will mellow with requisite bottle age. I like the substance and body here - excellent. (NM)
