A more deeply pitched and overtly gamy nose features notes of both red and dark currant, earth, humus and underbrush. There is ample minerality to the attractively vibrant and relatively refined medium weight flavors that possess good volume and a sleek muscularity before terminating in a saline-inflected, dusty and well-balanced finish. I very much like the style and there is good depth too.
The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Trio comes from three parcels surprisingly enough: Les Cherbaudes, Craponieres and Crepiot. The nose does not quite sing at first but it melds together with aeration, offering tempting undergrowth scents that complement the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a sinewy opening. There is good weight here but it is tightly wound and will probably need a couple of years in bottle. Good matiere though – full of substance. (NM)
Smoke, tobacco, menthol, licorice, plums and violets meld together in the 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin Le Trio. Broad, textured and generous on the palate, the 2012 offers plenty of the richness Remoissenet has become known for over the last handful of years. Sweet floral notes add freshness on the finish. Le Trio is a blend of fruit from Cherbaudes, Craipillot and Champonnet, harvested and vinified together. (AG)
