Very light yellow. Citrus pith and fresh orchard fruits on the assertively perfumed, incisive nose; hints of chamomile, jasmine and fennel emerge with air. Juicy and tightly focused in the mouth, offering bitter pear skin and Meyer lemon flavors that loosen up and put on weight on the back half. Finishes on a zesty orange pith note, showing strong persistence and lingering florality. (JR)
This racy and leesy young wine offers fresh and crisp flavors of cucumber, celery, jicama and green apple. Despite all the green components, it is not herbal or vegetal, and offers a precise, delicately crafted and ageworthy take on the grape.
From one of Oregon’s most historic wine estates; and the first in the US to plant Pinot Gris. The nose is suggestive of spring with notes of chamomile and lemongrass; the palate is more intense in both flavour and mouthfeel. An ageworthy take on the grape. (CG)
The 2015 Pinot Gris from Eyrie Vineyards in a nicely cool customer, impressively only tipping the scales at 12.5 percent octane in the hot summer of 2015. The wine offers up an expressive bouquet of apple, wheat chaff, a touch of hazelnut, a good base of soil and a touch of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is full, crisp and clean, with good focus and grip, respectable complexity and good length and grip on the well-balanced finish. Good juice. (Drink between 2017-2025)
The 2015 Pinot Gris is redolent of nectarines, poached pears and allspice with touches of white pepper. Medium-bodied with a racy backbone, it has a pleasant oiliness to the texture and a peppery finish. (LPB)
Polished and appealing, with pineapple-accented pear flavors. Finishes with tang and presence. (HS)
