The 2009 Clos des Chênes from Maison Jadot is stellar. Here there is nothing but perfect ripeness, great terroir and the potential for a velvety and very complex period of peak maturity. The bouquet is a superb and very elegant mélange of black cherries, dark plums, bitter chocolate, fresh herbs, woodsmoke and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with a great core of fruit, lovely soil tones, fine-grained tannins and a fine sense of reserve on the long and nascently complex finish. This will be a superb bottle of wine in the fullness of time. Drink between 2020-2060. 93+ points
A mix of ripe red berry fruit aromas cut with plenty of warm earth aromas precedes rich, full-bodied and intense middle weight flavors that possess good verve and detail on the moderately mineral-driven and quite firm finish that coats the palate with dry extract. This will require plenty of time to shed its dense but fine tannins yet it should be worth the wait. Note that this will probably not be especially appealing young. Drink: 2021+ *Outstanding*
