The exceptional Greenhook Ginsmiths have become ubiquitous in gin lovers' bars throughout the east coast and even Europe, but they've only just arrived in California. We couldn't be happier to have another high quality American Dry gin on the shelf. It's not as if there's a lack of gin out there, but gin is such magical thing and it deserves some serious thought. While many of our wonderful craft partners are making excellent gin in their ever expanding portfolios of lovely drinks, few are exclusively devoted to crafting the absolute most delicious gin possible. Many more treat their gin as a means to an end, perhaps a happy accident on the road toward future whiskey. But the guys in Greenhook are universally committed to creating the best possible American gin. They start with organic winter wheat and a vacuum driven 300-liter pot still. Then high-quality juniper along with nine other botanicals (coriander, chamomile, orris root, elderberry, elderflower, cinnamon, lemon peel, sweet orange peel and galangal) are added to the pot infusing in the quality spirit. The slowly distilled and low temperature, thanks to the fancy vacuum, insure the retention of the delicate and complex botanical character of the specially chosen ingredients. The result is a gin of great balance and structure without sacrificing any complexity. This is truly one of the great American gins.
