This wine was from the Kloster Eberbach cellars of the Hessische Staatsweingüter, or state winery, and served at a dinner I was invited to at the famous Zum Krug restaurant in Hattenheim in the Rheingau. Served with stuffed oxtail and caramelised foie gras. 165 Oechsle, 8.6 TA, 225 g/l RS. So young and syrupy and straightforward. Very, very sweet and pure and flattering. Bright and readable. Quite a lot of sulphur. 18.5/20 points. (JR)
