Tasted blind at the annual 'Burgfest' tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru (Domaine du Pavillon) has a ripe, quite floral bouquet with dandelion and buttercup scents infusing the waxy aromas. I like the focus and the delineation here and it seems very Corton-Charlemagne. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, vibrant and tensile with pleasing salinity towards the finish, hints of orange rind lingering on the aftertaste. This is one of very few wines from the grand cru that surpass my expectations ... just! Tasted May 2016. (NM)

Bottled. Lemony and lively but not very typical of the appellation! Good attention-grabbing intensity and real fruit weight. Really quite racy. (JR)
