A very attractive floral rose with aromas of strawberries and blood oranges, as well as an array of fragrant spices. A really spectacular nose. The palate has a super lithe and elegant feel with really powerful, long and fresh fruits. Strawberry pips and a pomegranate tang at the finish.
Lurid ruby. A complex, highly perfumed bouquet evokes fresh red/blue fruits, incense and candied flowers, with a smoky mineral overtone that gains power with air. Offers palate-staining black raspberry and boysenberry flavors, along with suggestions of allspice and candied licorice. Concentrated yet lithe in style, showing excellent finishing clarity and a impressive mineral-driven persistence. (JR)
The 2016 Juliénas Beauvernay from Domaine Chignard is excellent, revealing expressive aromas of black cherries, mulberry, sweet soil and subtle spice. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, velvety and textural, with a ripe but crunchy core of fruit along with succulent acids and a tangy, finely tannic finish. This doesn't have the complexity or elegance of the Domaine's Fleurie les Moriers, but it's a delicious example of Juliénas. (WK)
