Citrus-kissed saltiness lies at the core of this incredibly delicious, deliriously crafted wine, from the great grape grower in the heart of the Russian River Valley. Beautifully crisp, it lingers in stony minerality and a freshness of apricot, memorable from first sip to last. *Editors' Choice* (VB)

The 2014 Chardonnay South River displays more lemon honey and white peach, a hint of pineapple, and an elegant, steely, deep, full-bodied style, with great acidity and palate feel. This is largely produced from the Hanzel clone of Chardonnay. Drink it over the next 10+ years.
Quiet and assured, Tom Rochioli continues to produce spectacular wines from the family’s 100 acres of vineyards in the heart of the Russian River Valley on both sides of Westside Road south of Healdsburg. The two most commonly encountered cuvées are the Russian River Estate Chardonnay and Russian River Estate Pinot Noir.
The single vineyard Chardonnays all represent different blocks and clonal material from Rochioli’s estate vineyards. He has been making these wines since 1993. They are essentially bottled without fining or filtration, and virtually all of them are sold to members on the mailing list, so for the most part, they never make it into the general commercial marketplace. The 2014 Chardonnay South River is one of the most exotic, flamboyant wines in the range, yet, it, too, offers terrific balance between the more overt elements and brighter, more mineral-driven notes that serve as a counterpoint. (AG)
