Putting a very good first foot forward with a concentrated, nicely composed nose of ripe currants, black olives and sympathetic, carefully measured creamy oak, Barnett's is an impressive young Cabernet whose layered, very deep flavors build on the promise of its compelling aromas. It is full and fleshy in feel with plenty of fine-grained tannins affording a good bit of back-end grip, but it is more sturdy than it is tough and its beautifully defined fruit effortlessly shows through to the end. It is a wine that is easy to appreciate right now, but it needs time to reach its best and comes with strong urging that it be allowed at least another five years of cellaring.
Concentrated in tannic layers of vanilla, cassis and sage, this wine offers a sauvage quality of mountain air and power. Its full-bodied ripeness and richness is complemented by a lifted hit of bright acidity that lingers on the finish. (VB)
Blended of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain District opens with a cassis, plums and black cherries nose with cedar, dried roses and black soil hints plus a touch of charcuterie. There are plenty of baked berries and earthy layers in the full-bodied mouth, with a chewy backbone and savory finish. (LPB)
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon (Spring Mountain) is ripe, forward and juicy, all qualities that can be enjoyed upon release. The flavors are dark and bold in this decidedly sumptuous Spring Mountain Cabernet from Barnett. (AG)
