With a farm consisting of over 180 acres of apple orchards, Julian Temperley has been distilling brandy and making cider at Somerset since 1989 when he was granted the UK's first ever cider-distilling license. Cider production in the UK dates back to the Romans, but the West of England in particular has a number PGIs - protected geographical origins - where the orchards are treated like Burgundian vineyards, each with its own particular terroir. While the brandies are going to be the instant hits with our spirits-loving customers, it's the apple liqueurs that have made the Temperleys legendary back home. The Pomona is the digestif of the duo, meant to be sipped on at the end of a meal like a Port. Barrel-aged for additional richness, it's very much like a Tawny Port in style, but made entire with juice from Pomona apples and fortified with apple brandy.

This beautiful sweet and soft liqueur is full of apple flavors and joy. We had it at the distillery with a farmhouse cheddar and a light goat cheese and it paired well, letting the flavor profile of the cheese and the liqueur each work together to produce a really delicious experience. This is a true farm to bottle product.
