With a farm consisting of over 180 acres of apple orchards, Julian Temperley has been distilling brandy and making cider at Somerset since 1989 when he was granted the UK's first ever cider-distilling license. Cider production in the UK dates back to the Romans, but the West of England in particular has a number PGIs - protected geographical origins - where the orchards are treated like Burgundian vineyards, each with its own particular terroir. While the brandies are going to be the instant hits with our spirits-loving customers, it's the apple liqueurs that have made the Temperleys legendary back home. The Kingston Black is the aperitif of the duo, made from fresh pressed juice from the Somerset varietal and fortified with brandy. Fresh and sweet on the palate, its possibilities as a cocktail ingredient are simply endless, but it tastes almost too good to bother messing about with.

Kingston Black is a local apple grown in Somerset. It makes the perfect aperitif with seductive apple aromas that lead wonderful apple flavors. It is soft and easy, off-dry and not too sweet at all. A perfect way to start an evening because it is delicious and balanced and not heavy. A true farm-to-bottle product that reflects the fabulous people who grow and distill it.
