Strikes a wonderful balance between delicacy, finesse and subtle rich earthy flavors, serving up loamy cherry and berry, mineral and forest floor. Picks up body and tannic structure on the long finish. Drink now through 2016.
Combining ripe fruit suggesting cherries and a touch of stone fruits in its aromas, this wine also shows a dense, brooding side that has yet to find its full voice. Full-bodied and somewhat chewy in its tannins, concentrated in its tight yet generous fruit flavors and firming up towards the finish, this one deserves four to six years of cellaring and will emerge with a more open and expressive personality.
Tough and chewy now, with a fibrous, tannic mouthfeel like a bite of beef jerky. Similar flavors, too, of teriaki beef, but the underlying fruit is massive, offering waves of cherries, black raspberries, currants and cola. This is a very fine wine, but an immature one. Give it 4–6 years in the cellar, if you can keep your hands off. *Cellar Selection*
